Defense Minister Nakatani’s visit to Republic of India

Defense Minister of Japan Mr Gen Nakatani held the 2nd meeting with Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh, since they met in November 2024.

According to the press release, At the outset of the meeting, Defense Minister Nakatani extended his sincere condolences concerning the terrorist attack carried out in Kashmir on April 22, and strongly condemned all forms of terrorism which cannot be justified for any reason.

The ministers concurred the importance to create a large synergy in the Indo-Pacific region by enhancing the collaboration among initiatives led by each country from the defense side. Moreover, Defense Minister Nakatani proposed to proceed the collaboration as “Japan India (India Japan) Defense cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region (JIDIP/ IJDIP)” from now on.

From now on, the ministers will be discussing in specific to coordinate aiming to establish a meeting framework from comprehensive and integrated point of view between Japan and India for coordination and task management in cooperation and collaboration, to continue expanding and deepening exercises and trainings conducted by both countries, to collaborate from the aspect of protecting sea line of communication, and to deepen Japan-India bilateral collaboration in South East Asia.
