The Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall is acquiring the ammunition detection and recovery company Stascheit GmbH in Gardelegen, Saxony-Anhalt. A purchase and assignment agreement for the acquisition of the company has now been signed.
According to the press release, As part of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, the company will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group.
The integration of Stascheit GmbH will comprehensively round out Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH's product portfolio in the field of explosive ordnance disposal. Rheinmetall is targeting medium-term annual sales of approximately €80 million for the acquisition.
Both companies have successfully completed numerous projects in their collaboration to date. These include the detection of explosive ordnance in the North Sea, which was particularly useful during maintenance work on offshore wind farms. The companies successfully destroyed munitions prior to the laying of submarine pipelines in the Baltic Sea and in Spain.
The main business activities of the previously owner-managed Stascheit GmbH are the detection, evaluation, recovery and destruction of explosive ordnance and archaeological prospection as well as the investigation of contaminated sites and all related activities, including challenging diving and recovery work.
This strategic acquisition will significantly complement and further expand Rheinmetall’s product portfolio.
